2022 Pinot Gris - Cuvee XL
Spoiler alert: Pinot Gris is not a white grape! It is actually closer to a red varietal, turning a dark pinkish-grey color when it is ripe. While most Pinot Gris is made into white wine, there is a tradition in northeastern Italy of making Pinot Gris as a light red wine. The style is generally called Ramato (the Italian word for copper), describing the lovely hue of the resulting wine. This is an exciting new expression of Oregon's signature "white" varietal, showing the apple skin aromas of Pinot Gris along with the structure of a light-bodied red wine. Enjoy slightly chilled with a wide array of lighter dishes. This wine is the perfect companion for grilled salmon during the summer or chanterelle risotto in the fall!
